Number of IAS Attempts increased from 2014 exam
Central government had approved "two additional attempts for all categories of candidates w.e.f Civil Services Examination, 2014, with consequential age relaxation of maximum age for all categories of candidates, if required".

FAQs by IAS Planner:

1. How many attempts candidate will have from 2014 IAS exam?
-> Two more attempts means now candidates of General category will get 6 attempts, OBC 9 attempts and SC/ST unlimited attempts up to age limit given by UPSC.

2. Is there any change in age relaxation?
-> Yes. Consequential age relaxation of maximum age for all categories means now age limit will be 32 years for General, 35 for OBC and 37 for SC/ST.

3. How much competition will be there in 2014 and 2015 exams?
-> Considering many senior students will appear for this exam now, you can expect tough competition. But UPSC civil services exam is of dynamic nature, so there will be no much benefit the seniors will get. So there will be always good hope for hardworking candidate.

4. What will be strategy for senior candidates?
-> Senior candidates should adapt themselves to the new pattern. So there is a scope for change in their study plan, pattern and material.
